Our Story:

Brink Productions is a charity dedicated to empowering marginalized communities, particularly young people, through music and cultural engagement. Our mission is to use the transformative power of the arts to help individuals develop skills and build stronger, more inclusive communities. Our vision is to provide platforms and spaces that give young people the opportunity to express themselves within their communities and to have a voice. Using a range of Music media and dance activities to allow young people to build confidence and to show young people in a positive light.

Brink matches youth arts workers with youth workers as we believe in the power of youth work and engagement with music and the arts .Young people involved in our projects become resilient, self-confident with raised self-esteem, self-efficacy and life skills.

Initially started as a small community initiative, the organization quickly grew in response to the local need for safe, creative outlets for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

For over 21 years, Brink Productions has been dedicated to empowering young people through Music, DJ Skills, Dance, music Production and recording. Providing educational workshops surrounding the issues of youth violence, knife crime, gang culture 

Our diverse workforce and young people allow different backgrounds to learn from each other, which make our projects more innovative and productive.

Now, we need your help to continue providing these vital programs to at-risk youth. Your support will help us expand our outreach, fund more workshops, and bring positive change to even more young lives.

Founded in 2003 by Lisa Ellis Brink Productions was born out of a desire to offer young people a safe, creative space to express themselves, build skills, and form supportive safe spaces. 

Urban Superstars and MCR Superstars

Urban Superstars 

Brink Productions (Lisa Ellis) coordinated activities for a number of professionals within Manchester City Council. MCC have worked alongside Brink Productions on a number of occasions, most notably on one of the council’s biggest youth music shows events devised by Michael Salmon Urban Superstars 2003-06 ran a series of city-wide music workshops, competitions and headline events at Contact Theatre, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester Apollo attracting an audience of 3000 young people. 

 MCR Superstars Competition, empowered young people from all backgrounds, especially those facing challenges, by providing them with a creative outlet and a pathway to potential future opportunities in the Industry Celebrating Manchester’s diverse and vibrant youth, bringing communities together to support and cheer on the city’s next generation of superstars. Prizes included Trips to New York, Rotterdam, Track releases, collaborations with professional artists Afu Rah, vocals from Joel Ortiz, Big Life Studio sessions with Jin Jin, Bless Beats. Meet and greets with Slaughter House.

 Terminology

Brink Productions Terminology project removes barriers to inclusion through positive activities aimed at young people who are at risk, hard to reach and overlooked through disadvantage.  We improve the accessibility of creative projects to ensure that a more diverse range of young people  have equality of opportunity.

For over 8 years The Terminology project has Provided Educational workshops delivered by Darryl Laycock surrounding the issues of youth violence, knife crime, gang culture and grooming. Mentoring, support and advice. Provided organisations with portable bleed kits, first aid and Training with Street Doctors whilst taking knives off the street to be disposed of safely. 

Daryll Laycock Interview

Darryl Laycock became involved in gangs in Moss side Manchester. Darryl Laycock delivers the Youth violence and knife crime awareness sessions, Daryll has been shot on three separate occasions, hit by over 20 bullets and stabbed 7 times. After serving 12 years in jail, he now mentors’ young people who are at risk or victim too criminal activity. To date he has facilitated change in over a 100,000 young people’s lives

DJ Sessions

Marvin English (DJ Silva) is an International DJ radio presenter from Manchester who has been djing since the age of 11yrs old performing at house parties (blues was best way to learn how to play to crowds in those days) carnivals and pirate radio stations such as Ital radio & Buzz Fm. DJ Silva has had the privilege of djing alongside other household names and legends such as Trevor Nelson Steve Smooth Sutherland DJ EZ & Tim Westwood and has also warmed up the crowds at concerts for artist such as Akon bust Rhymes Ashanti T Pain Jagged Edge Joe Tyga Future Nelly.

Offering Trips to London’s Bike Storm, Beyond the Music Festival, Performances at Moss-side Carnival. Street dance performance aired on Channel 4 news, tracks played on BBC Radio, Unity and the licensing and distribution of music on all major platforms.

We are not a dance school we provide a noncompetitive session with the aim of increasing confidence and offer dance to all regardless of experience. The groups we work with are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to systemic inequality, economic challenges, or social stigma. By engaging them through our dance programs, we aim to:

Address inequality by providing free and accessible activities.

Promote inclusion by creating culturally relevant and supportive spaces.

Empower young people to build confidence, develop new skills, and find pathways away from negative influences.
