To offer families a gentle, creative way to learn about real food, build confidence and grow together in wellbeing, hope and community.
Mish Mash Publications LTD
My name is Nin Sidhu, and this project has lived quietly in my heart for decades — long before I ever imagined creating a publishing company or designing children’s stories. As a parent and now a grandparent, I’ve watched the world around families change dramatically. Decisions about what to feed our children have become rushed, reactive, and often influenced by busy lifestyles, clever packaging, and confusing food messaging.
Most parents make snap choices in supermarkets simply to “get through the day.” It isn’t because they don’t care; it’s because life is demanding, and the food environment is noisy. And somewhere in the middle of all of this, many children have grown up with very little understanding of what real food actually is, where it comes from, or why it matters.
For years, this troubled me. I knew there must be a kinder, gentler way to help families reconnect with something simple and good.
This is the foundation upon which the Juicy Snack Pack Pals were built.
Why This Project Exists
The UK is full of contradictions. We often discuss the importance of healthy eating, yet children’s exposure to ultra-processed foods has never been higher. Supermarket shelves are stacked with brightly coloured packets that look wholesome but aren’t. Parents are left to decode labels that even professionals struggle to interpret. Teachers are trying to encourage better habits while juggling endless workloads. And many children are losing the connection between the earth, nature, and the food that nourishes them.
I’ve seen children point to a market stall and ask, “Is that real food?”
Others think carrots grow pre-cut in bags because they’ve never seen them in the soil.
These aren’t small problems — they shape how the next generation sees themselves, their health, and their future.
Children don’t need lectures.
They don’t need shame.
What they need is warmth, curiosity, encouragement, and joy.
That’s exactly what the Juicy Snack Pack Pals bring.
What the Juicy Snack Pack Pals Offer
This project blends storytelling, creativity, humour, gentle learning and community values. Every character — from Zippea the pea, Kerry Cherri, Captain Carrot, Ollie Orange, Aloe Vera, and Theo the dog — has been crafted to spark imagination and open emotional doors.
Behind every illustration is a purpose:
• to help children recognise real foods
• to make healthy choices feel exciting, not “boring”
• to connect families through simple, joyful learning
• to bring warmth back into food conversations
• to encourage confidence, routine, and curiosity
• to celebrate positive values like kindness, compassion and care
These are timeless principles — the kind that ground strong communities and strong families.
The Reality Families Face Today
Across the UK, childhood health challenges are rising faster than ever:
• Ultra-processed foods make up a large portion of many children’s diets
• Childhood obesity continues to increase, particularly in deprived areas
• A growing number of children cannot name basic fruits or vegetables
• Screen-time habits have replaced hands-on experiences
• More parents feel overwhelmed, isolated or unsupported in food decisions
• Teachers report limited tools to engage students in nutrition creatively
• Community spaces focused on families and real food are disappearing
This project exists to offer something positive in the middle of all of this — learning that feels safe, fun and full of heart.
The Vision
My goal isn’t just to publish a book.
It’s to build a long-standing space that helps families feel seen and supported.
The vision includes:
• beautifully illustrated books that teach through warmth and humour
• animations and short learning videos for children and schools
• downloadable activity sheets for parents, nurseries and teachers
• community resources that lift families up rather than judge them
• a creative platform where nature, food, imagination and joy meet
Everything is built to be inclusive, accessible and uplifting.
No pressure, no guilt — just learning that welcomes everyone.
Why I Need Your Support
Creative work on this scale, including books, animations, community tools, and learning materials, requires funding to be completed professionally. Your support will help us:
• print the first high-quality book
• develop a full set of educational resources
• create animations and child-friendly learning videos
• build a parent community hub
• finalise design, editing and production
• launch materials ready for families, schools and local communities
Every pound raised goes directly into bringing this vision to life.

Final Words
This project is more than a children’s book — it’s the beginning of something hopeful. It’s a chance to gently guide children back to nature, real food, and joyful learning. It’s a way to empower parents without overwhelming them. And it’s an opportunity to build a community rooted in kindness, encouragement, and better futures for our children.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
