Aim

We want to deliver premium Belgian waffles to you at home and open our first pop-up shop. The Mayor of London will match fund up to £5000.

Intro

Hi we’re Deekenek, AKA the best waffles in the UK (or world?)

We’re raising funds to develop our project and take it a step further. Before covid started we were about to open our first pop-up shop in central London, a few days before the big day the world shut down and we had to adapt and re-think our business model. 

Our promise to deliver our waffles still warm made logistics a challenge for us. We invested in different delivery solutions and packaging to be able to deliver warm waffles to our customers. We’re also developing a new offer where we’ll be able to deliver our waffles nationwide. 

We’re planning to open a pop-up shop in central London this summer for everyone to experience our waffles straight out of our waffle iron (along with other surprises). 

We have a great opportunity where The Mayor of London will match every pound that is donated up to a total of £5000 if we reach our target.

Our target is to raise £10,000 which will allow us to get the full £5000 grant from The Mayor of London. 

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

We have big ambitions for Deekenek and Covid hasn’t made it simple for us to develop that vision. We’ve had to delay some of our projects several times. After testing our concept in food markets and online, we’ve seen how happy and excited customers were about our waffles, we’ve got great feedback and we’ve now got to a point where we want to take it a step further. People are asking for our waffles and we’re committed to bringing them our waffles. 

WAFFLES DELIVERED

For a long time, we tested deliveries in a very limited radius. We’re now aiming to expand the delivery radius for our warm waffles to central London (zone 1-2 and then zone 1-3). As we increase our radius we’ll hire new ghost kitchens to cover a broader area and reduce the distance between our kitchens and our customers. We’re all about premium ingredients and freshness, we’ve spent the last few months working on a way to deliver our waffles across the nation and we're about to launch this new product very soon. 

THE CAMPAIGN

Our 4-week campaign runs from March 22th - April 19th. We offer a gift card for most contributions, these will be delivered to you by email if the campaign is a success and hits the target. 

We also have unlimited waffles for the person who will contribute £2000 to this campaign. That person will be able to redeem unlimited waffles for one person for the duration of our pop-up. (2-4 weeks). It can't be redeemed online (except for the gift card. 

This pre-sales model is invaluable for us at this time. It means we can pivot to online sales without unmanageable upfront costs in stock and packaging.
