Aim

We are raising money to enable the community with or without gardens to be able to enjoy nature and wildlife.

WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ADDRESS?

With a large proportion of the local community living in flats, apartments and even the homeless community in tents and shelters they have little or no access to outside space and the joy of nature. We know that nature, the outdoors and wildlife has a huge positive impact on mental health, physical health and community spirit.  Children benefit greatly from the outdoors and interaction with nature and the beauty in it, with so many not having direct access to this they are missing out on the benefits. With many of our elderly house bound nature and wildlife watching through the window or on the door is a positive experience bring joy and improving mental well being. We want to make sure as many people as possible in the community have access to this.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

We intend to run our brining nature home project to benefit those in the community with no or reduced access to outside space. We want to provide the provisions needed to bring families, neighbours, and communities together to enjoy local wildlife and nature, having a clear positive impact on mental health, physical health, and bringing people together to build positive friendships and support networks.

WHAT WILL WE PROVIDE?

We will provide workshops for the community in our centre, providing learning, skills and knowledge. During the workshops we will identify spaces for individuals to access e.g. balconies, small garden's, communal green spaces, local fields etc that the individuals, groups or families can have access to. We will then provide wild flower seeds, hedgehog and bug hotels and birdfeeders etc, the workshops will give the community the skills and tools to use these provisions so they can access nature and wildlife in their identified space.

WHAT WILL THIS DO?

This will have a positive effect on the environment, encouraging native species to the area, helping with pollination and keeping the area clean and tidy.

It will also have a positive effect on the community, improving mental health, encouraging good physical health and fresh air. Bringing people together to enjoy the beauty of nature giving them a common interest and building resilient communities. It will encourage children to appreciate and understand nature and wildlife and help the elderly experience nature from within their homes or gardens.
