Aim

Raise £3,000 to replace broken classroom and assembly hall screens so every pupil at Thornton Primary can access engaging, modern learning

We are Friends of Thornton Primary School, the Parent Council group made up of parents and carers who work alongside staff to support the school community. We volunteer our time to help enhance pupils’ experiences, strengthen community connections and provide additional resources where they are most needed.

Our vision is simple: every child at Thornton Primary should have access to a positive, engaging and modern learning environment. Recently, several interactive screens used in classrooms and the main assembly hall have stopped working or become unreliable. These tools are now an essential part of how lessons are delivered, helping teachers explain ideas clearly and making learning more interactive and inclusive.

Schools must carefully plan how they use their budgets to ensure staffing, core learning materials and pupil support remain protected. Unexpected equipment failures create additional financial pressure that is difficult to absorb without affecting other priorities. As a Parent Council, we want to step in and help reduce that pressure while improving daily learning experiences for pupils.

The money raised through this campaign will go directly towards purchasing replacement interactive screens for the classrooms and shared school spaces most in need. This will support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons, enable pupils to participate fully in modern learning and ensure assemblies and whole-school activities can run effectively.

This project is about more than equipment. It is about community, fairness and opportunity. By working together, we can make a meaningful and lasting difference to the children at Thornton Primary School.
