Join our community in raising £50,000 to reopen the much-loved historic King William, serving Catcott and the Polden Hills.
For generations, the King William Inn has been more than just a pub; it's the soul of our community where friendships are forged and traditions kept alive. When its doors closed two years ago, Catcott lost a primary meeting place. Now, the Catcott Community Benefit Society is leading a passionate campaign to reclaim this historic landmark, ensuring that our village remains a vibrant, connected home for everyone.
The King William is being reopened after residents across the Polden Hills came together in 2025 to explore the opportunity of running the pub under a Community Lease. Following public meetings with the brewery Palmers of Bridport, and detailed planning, strong local support confirmed that the pub could once again become a valued local asset. To achieve this, money is needed to meet the costs of setting-up, opening and initial running.
The Community voted to form a volunteer Management Committee, bringing together skills from across the Polden Hills to lead the project; with the vision to reopen The King William as both a successful community pub and a welcoming community hub for everyone to enjoy.
Through growing volunteer support and strong local backing, the Catcott Community Benefit Hub Limited was formed and registered, and work is now underway towards a planned reopening in summer 2026.
With your donation, we can bring the King William Inn back to life as the thriving heart of the community for generations to come. Whether you can give £10, £50, £100 or more, every donation makes a difference.
Thank you for your support - let's bring The King William back to life together!
