Bangor CC is planning to invest in first class all weather training facilities for its 280 youth members and its 8 mens and womens teams.
Bangor Cricket Club is a community sports club in Bangor, Co. Down, committed to providing the best cricketing opportunities to all local people. We have a growing, thriving youth section of 280 young people. We field 6 competitive men's and 2 women's teams in local leagues. Our women's membership is growing fast.
Whether it's high level performance or participation for enjoyment, Bangor Cricket Club has a place for you.
While we are a thriving club, our practice facilities are old and worn out, and too small for the number of players who use them, espectially youth players. The surface is uneven and worn out. The netting is torn in places. A better and bigger all-weather practice area will directly help our better players reach their potential and will provide a better quality training and coaching experience for all our cricketers. It will also give us capacity to further grow the number of people in our club.
We plan to lay a first-class, 3-wicket all-weather training surface with mobile cage nets that will provide superb training facilities for Bangor's aspiring cricketers for many years to come. We are using Crowdfunding to raise funds to build this new facility at our Upritchard Park ground. Via the Sport NI Olympic Legacy Grant, if we raise 35% of the cost we aim to grant fund 65%. The cost is £44,000. So, if we can raise £15,500, through the Sport NI Olympic Legacy Grant we can raise a further £28,500
We believe this is a fitting, long term legacy to invest in. Directly benefitting local sports stars of the future and hundreds of cricketers of today - a legacy worthy of the local Olympic achievement that the fund celebrates.
The money will be used to install a permanent all weather cricket training area for batting and bowling and a mobile net batting cage that can be used on the new training area or moved to a grass wicket area.
The training area will consist of:
A compacted sub base 30m x 11m. Enough for 3 wickets.
An all weather bespoke artificial wicket surface giving realistic and repeatable bounce across 3 training wickets.
£40,400 for the base and surface installation.
A mobile batting netted "cage" 33ft long. £3,000 (inc. delivery)
A ball-stop end net £300
The new facility will proide a doubling of the capacity of coaching that we can provide versus our current training area.

We are a community club. Run by volunteers for local people. We provide healthy, outdoor sporting opportunity to hundreds of people from age 7 to over 50's, boys, girls, men and women. Of all sporting abilities. We provide valuable social connections for older people, past players who meet on match day and at our social events.

Our summer schemes provide activity and friendship for children in the school holidays.
Our new practice facilities will last for years, providing the best facilities for Bangor's sporting young people for years to come. We can coach more prople, probably twice as many, in a better coaching environment. They will help us attract the best coaches. The practice facilities will directly lead to a raising of the standard of our cricket teams competing in local leagues and help our most talented cricketers reach their potential at Bangor rather than seeking their development elsewhere.

These improved training facilities are central to our continued ambition to give even more of Bangor's young people the best sporting opportunities for years to come.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!

We will be raising money in several ways. Club social events (a quiz and sponsored training activities), sponsored activtiies, activities in the local community (such as litter picking) to raise awareness beyond our members, donations from members and local people and sponsorship from local businesses. There will be an opportuntiy to contribute that suits you!
Here are a couple of our past projects. Thanks for your support!!
