We smashed our initial target thank you so much everyone!

For every pound you give, we have donors who will increase the value of your donation to £4. All of the money we raise will help support local people in Moulsecoomb to play at the brand new full time BTTC club.

Thanks to the Focus Foundation, the Enjoolata Foundation, the Starr Trust and the Effinity Charitible Foundation for the incredible support. Thanks too to all of the BTTC supporters that have donated all sorts of brilliant and some very limited edition rewards that are only available to get through the Crowdfunder.

Who are we?

We are a community table tennis club with a focus on social value in Brighton and Hove. We run sessions for more than 1,500 people each week from our base in Kemptown and our new club in Moulsecoomb, as well as outreach sessions across the city and beyond. Community integration is at the heart of the club - when people come and play with us, there are no labels, people are first and foremost table tennis players. Friendships are made over the table tennis table and the relationships, understanding and respect found here are taken back into the wider community. While we a table tennis club, we offer so much more than that, a sense of community and family, a place of acceptance and an opportunity to become your best self.

With the people we work with, we focus on their ability. With coaching everyone improves and confidence builds as they develop a new skill. The sense of achievement this brings has broad impacts in life beyond the club. It’s important our players have the chance to contribute back – through volunteering at sessions, driving the minibus, helping with the club’s administration or working towards becoming a coach themselves.  Everyone also has the opportunity to compete at whatever their level be it in the BTTC league or in competitions nationally or internationally.

BTTC delivers more than table tennis, we use playing for development and the impacts on the individuals who play with us are profound. The people we work with come from many different backgrounds. We work with people living in the 10% most deprived areas in the country (IMD 2019), young travellers, people with learning disabilities, refugees, people with long term health conditions and more.  We celebrate everyone's achievements equally  - whether that's returning a ball over the net for the first time or winning a medal in the Paralympics.

Why are we crowdfunding?

BTTC Moulsecoomb opened in January 2025. We were able to get funding for the refurbishment. Today we would like to ask our community to help us make this new club the best it can be. We want to run lots of different sessions.

First of all we want to create a para hub for people with physical and learning disabilities to learn to play table tennis and become the best they can be. The new club has level entry so it is perfect for people with mobility issues or who use a wheelchair.

We want to work with more local schools - we are delivering after-school sessions for Moulsecoomb Primary, Fairlight and BACA but would love to work with more.

The 50+and women's sessions in Kemptown are really popular -we would love to develop these at Moulsecoomb - we have just started to run these, but there's so much more we can do.

We run sessions for people with long-term health conditions - these have been particularly popular for people with Parkinson's but are open to all. Some players have competed overseas in the World Parkinson's Table Tennis Championships.

We're also planning monthly community meals to introduce ourselves to the wider community - obviously there will be table tennis involved at the end of the session.

All these plans need money to make them come to life, so we are asking if you would please make a donation to the club so the BTTC Moulsecoomb can be the best it can be.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be used to ensure that everyone who wants to play can play for free or at a concessionary rate.  We never want money to be a barrier for people to be involved and with your help, together we can make that happen.

Your support will help children like Myla, aged 10, above. Myla has cerebral palsy and lives with her nan, mum and dad in Whitehawk. Before starting to play table tennis, just three months ago, her family told us that Myla didn't like leaving the house and would spend all weekend in her room. This meant that her family couldn't leave the house either. Since starting to play with BTTC Myla can't wait to come to the club. She's much happier in herself and her whole family has felt the positive impact. Myla saw Bly playing on the TV in the Paralympics and saw what someone else with her condition could achieve and it gave her the inspiration to learn to play.

Community impact

We believe that BTTC Moulsecoomb will be a community hub for young and old and everyone in between. We have always believed ourselves to be more than a table tennis club, where people can meet, socialise, be more active and feel part of something that is doing good.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
