To raise as much money as possible to improve the lives of those suffering from muscle wasting conditions
Hi,
Life can be tough… personally, professionally and more generally.
Before things go wrong it can be lived with almost childlike innocence. But then, as soon as something does go wrong - for you, a family member, friend or colleague, that beautiful bubble pops and you become exposed to how unexplainably cruel life can be - mentally, physically… both.
We all have blips and our own personal stories to tell (which I hope you all do within your trusted circles) but sometimes, some of us also need distractions or ‘purpose’ to feel like we are doing something in response.
I am not one of those lucky people who enjoys running. I enjoy the feeling once I have completed a run but I definitely don’t enjoy everything that goes with it. Nevertheless and with the above in mind, I am running the Brighton Marathon on 2 April 2023 and then the London Marathon on 23 April 2023. This is to help me process my own ‘stuff’, raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK, and to feel like I am doing something to combat the related muscle wasting conditions that have affected my immediate family and friends.
Truth be told, sharing this and coming ‘cap in hand’ to ask people to throw some pennies in the pot, if they are able to, is all rather uncomfortable. Nevertheless, it’s better for me to be embarrassed if that means someone’s quality of life has the potential to improve.
If anyone is able to donate, it will be very much appreciated. Equally, if you are unable to, that is perfectly understandable given everything else which is going on at the moment.
thank you
Mark
