Install LED Flood Lights, to provide brighter, improved visibility on the green, reducing electricity costs and helping with net zero target

Who are we?

Ainsdale Bowling Club has celebrated its 55th year on its current site. We are a thriving club having 120 members and supporting 15 teams playing in the afternoon and evenings in local leagues. Members also enjoy social bowling throughout the week, the club providing a safe environment to meet and enjoy sport, enhancing both their physical and mental well being.

We are part of a wider not for profit Community Amateur Sports Club (The Ainsdale Club) providing sporting facilities for the local community.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to improve our facilities focusing on improving the floodlighting used in the evenings in support of matches and the playing experience of bowlers and spectators watching.

The current halogen system installed in the 1980s emit a yellowish light that impacts on visibility making it challenging for players to see. This impacts on the game where accuracy is paramount and  given the average age of players can increase the risk of trips or falls.

We are asking for your help to raise £5500 to help pay for new modern LED lights on the existing 4 pylons, replacing the existing halogen lights. Sport England have made a conditional grant of £2750 which we will receive if we can raise a further £2750 through crowdfunding. If we can do that we will achieve our target and the project will proceed.

How we’ll spend the money raised

All the money raised including the Sport England award will be used to install new LED lights on the existing 4 pylons around the bowling green. Any surplus will go to support the bowling club in maintaining the condition of the green and its surrounds.

Community impact

We are a friendly and community focused club. We are run solely by volunteers who give time, energy and knowledge to ensure the club is run smoothly. We are passionate about the community and of course bowls!!

Our aim is to continue to grow the club, providing a safe environment with appropriate facilities, making it accessible and an enjoyable experience for all.
