Sport Northern Ireland Project Re-Boot: Activate has provided £5,000 of match funding
Brigade CC wants to develop a project that provides opportunities for Boys and Girls in our community to get into cricket.
WHO ARE BRIGADE CRICKET CLUB.....
Brigade CC was founded in 1906 and originally known as Church Lads' Brigade, the club adopted its current name in 1923. The club's first ground was at the Brandywell, and moved to its current ground in 1921, having played for a year in 1920 in Black's Field, Glendermott Road.

CLUB / COMMUNITY AND YOUR SUPPORT.....
We are in the heart of the Waterside and have a very good relationship with the neighbouring schools of Foyle College and Lisneal College and Ebrington Primary School. With your support we would like to build on these relationships and also reach out to other non playing cricket schools and develop our boys and girls playing base.
- We are a cricket club with U11, U13 and U15 boys teams. We would like to start a girls under age team.
- We have 3 senior men's teams.
- Our Men's 1st XI are current All Ireland champions and recently represented Ireland in the European League competition getting to finals week and finishing fourth out of 30 European teams.
- We are a family and community club open to all and encourage new faces.
HOW COVID EFFECTED THE CLUB.....
Like all Sports Clubs Covid 19 has had a detrimental effect on our cricket club. We have lost out on our interaction with local schools. We have seen membership fall away, players drift off and we have struggled with Coaches , Administrators and Sponsors. All these elements we need to feed in to create a vibrant club.
THE PROJECT / THE VISION.....
The Club would like to put into motion the Return to Cricket Project. It will offer kids of all abilities from 8 years old the opportunity to come along and be introduced to a new sport, cricket. Our aim is to increase our player and member base hopefully with the addition of a girls team and also a ladies team. Program of activities to include:
- New coaching sessions during the week for girls and boys, to include fun cricket sessions and fun physical sessions on catching/batting/running/
- Building confidence and knowledge etc.
- Outdoor fun fitness sessions
- Starting girls under age team
- Work with NWCU to promote the game and develop new coaches
We need your help to raise £10000. If the club hits a target of £5000 on Crowdfunder, Sport NI will match this figure with a further £5000.
HOW MONEY RAISED WILL ACHIEVE IT.....
The increased financial support from Crowdfunder will help support coaches, purchase new equipment for the children, develop our girls and ladies cricket opportunities and setup and run our popular cricket camps. We will provide T-shirts to all newcomers to help them feel welcome and part of the team.
