Aim

The aim of the project is to replace the deteriorating boundary wall at Bridport FC, which runs alongside the River Brit and the public path

Bridport FC is a long-established community football club serving the people of Bridport and the surrounding area. As a club, we are committed not only to providing football opportunities for local people, but also to maintaining and improving our facilities for the benefit of the wider community.

Our current project is to replace the deteriorating boundary wall running alongside the River Brit and the public footpath at the club. This is a major project which we intend to complete in phases, as and when we can raise the necessary funds.

The wall is now becoming a significant health and safety concern, with sections deteriorating and the risk of debris falling onto the public pathway. If the condition continues to worsen, there is a real possibility that the footpath may eventually have to be closed for public safety. This would have a considerable impact on people using this important route between the football club car park and Bridport town centre.

Our vision is not simply to make the area safer, but to create an attractive, modern and long-lasting boundary that will enhance this important entrance to Bridport. As the wall is situated on a well-used route into the town, we believe the finished project will benefit the whole community and improve the appearance of the area.

Bridport Town Council has kindly agreed to install the new wall panels, provided that the football club can purchase and supply them. Each phase will involve purchasing six panels at a cost of £400 per panel, allowing us to make steady progress as funds become available.

To help finance the project, we also intend to offer advertising opportunities on the football-club side of the new wall. Local businesses will be able to sponsor advertising panels, helping us generate further income towards the next stages of the project.

Every donation and sponsorship will therefore make a direct contribution towards replacing this unsafe and deteriorating wall. By working together with Bridport Town Council, local businesses, supporters and the wider community, we hope to complete the project over time.

We are asking the community to support this worthwhile cause because it is about much more than improving a football club facility. It is about making a well-used public route safer, improving the appearance of an important part of Bridport, and creating a lasting benefit for the whole Bridport community.
