Let's get this party started! Get Green Party People elected onto Bridgend County Borough Council and into the Senedd.

by Debra Cooper in Porthcawl, Bridgend County Borough, United Kingdom

Step by small step...

Our priority is to get 4 County Councillors elected by 2027. To do this we will leaflet 4 wards, 4 times a year, in order to encourage voters believe that real hope and real change is possible  by electing local Green Party Councillors.

There are 8 Green Party Councillors in Wales. Let us see Green Party Councillors elected in Bridgend in 2027, or earlier if there is a by election.

We will need to raise £1000, in order to tell people that voting for Green Party people will send this message to all levels of government:

  • No nuclear power plant is welcome in the Llynfi Valley,or anywhere in the Bridgend County Borough area.
  • We welcome a Green transition for jobs with a fair day's work for a fair day's pay.
  • We expect fair rents and safe homes
  • Nature and countryside will be restored
  • The community will be consulted before supporting ill-planned, not fit for purpose hydrogen projects
  • Planning permission will be supported when sewage disposal is safely planned for in advance, and other services such as doctors, dentists, schools exist first. No more cart before the horse.
  • Schools and teachers will be supported and feel secure
  • Communities will be listened to when they tell us that they feel unsafe and we will react to residents and the police views for improvement.
  • Safe active travel routes will be created and improved, and be destination focused.
  • Circular bus services from the Llynfi Valley to Porthcawl will be introduced
  • The need  food banks will be ended by ensuring that every household feel proud to feed their family with a basic living income
  • We will support the removal of coal tips.

Because we are powered by local people, and not by big business or vested interests  all of our campaigning funds are raised by Green Party members and supporters. We can only achieve our ambitions by your donations.

Our stretch target is to raise £10,000 for the Senedd Election in 2026. Only then will be able to buy enough leaflets and other resources to run a campaign which will reach every household in Bridgend County Borough Council. In addition we have to raise a £500 deposit for each candidate.

Because we are a political party, we are required to run electoral register checks from people making donations over £500, and if you donate over £1500, during one year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this information available on their website. All donations go to Bridgend 's general campaign funds.
