Breastfeeding Circle has been meeting every week in Fleet since May 2021 and we would like it to continue. It offers a comfortable space for families, needing a breastfeeding community, to spend time together. We gather for 2 hours on a Tuesday morning and there is opportunity to catch up with how breastfeeding or family life is going and ask specific questions about breastfeeding or wider parenting subjects.
Evidenced based up to date information is shared by the facilitators and personal experiences are shared by the other families. New families find us by being signposted by their midwife or health visitor, by word of mouth or through local social media. They often arrive with newborn babies struggling with early challenges of breastfeeding and continue to come regularly to be part of the ongoing supportive environment and to offer their experiences to newer families. This results in a circle of babies aged from pregnancy to toddlerhood and a regular core group who become important in each other's lives as they navigate this stage of their life. Sometimes an informal walk or trip to the nearby pub for lunch is organised by group attendees after our session. This free to attend group is facilitated, supervised and supported by IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants).
Our venue is easily accessible, has free parking and is centrally located in a busy family area. We invite all session attendees to Breastfeeding Circle's thriving WhatsApp group chat of over 200 breastfeeding mums which is described as a lifeline by some families. It links them together over the days and nights between face to face meetings and they feel surrounded by a supportive network.
