BftB returns for second helpings of the party pie in aid of Refugees Rock. 🧡
Date: 28th September, 2024. 5pm 'till midnight.
Venue: Kave, Invisible Wind Factory.
Entry: Suggested donation - £3 per person
Vibe: Very fucking bouncy (lineup to be announced soon)
We don't charge entry for Breaks for the Border because having fun with friends is priceless.
But so is doing something meaningful for new neighbours who have often left behind the things that make them happiest. So once again, we'll be supporting Refugees Rock by throwing a massive party.
The venue needs a guest list, so for those who can, we're asking for donations to secure your entry.
- Suggested donation: £3 per person. The minimum donation helps cover our costs for the venue and transporting equipment. If you're donating on behalf of two or more people please tell us who's coming in the donation message (just need firstname and surname).
- You are very welcome to donate more! Anything over the initial £3 per person will go directly to Refugees Rock - see below for more info on how the money will be used.
- Don't forget to register for giftaid if eligible - it adds a significant chunk to the donations.
- We need a bit of time to sort the admin, so please aim to donate before 5pm on 22nd September. Donations will remain open until 12th October in case anyone feels extra generous on the night. 🎉
Of course, if you're not in a position to donate that's perfectly fine. Just drop Viv a message on whatsapp to let us know you're coming and we'll add you to the list.
You are welcome to invite guests by sharing the link to this page - personal connections only please :)
Note: Substandard tomfoolery will not be tolerated.

Background
Refugees Rock is a free monthly climbing club for anyone fleeing violence, persecution or exploitation. Started by Action Asylum and The Climbing Hangar three years ago, there are now 11 groups around the UK, from Edinburgh to Plymouth.
At the last Breaks for the Border, we raised over £400 which subsidised public transport for the Liverpool group to make the sessions accessible to as many people as possible.
This time we're going mega meta and raising funds to help Refugees Rock become a charity in its own right.
Up until now, RR has been a community project. But with the Refugees Rock film set to premier at Kendal Mountain Film Festival in November, the project is in for a shed load of attention.
It'll be an amazing opportunity to launch new groups and raise smiles at climbing walls across the country.
The funds we raise will be put towards:
- Funding some of the operational set up as the group makes the transition to registered charity
- Taking as many of our RR climbers to Kendal as possible, so they can share their inspirational stories and talk about the impact of a having a safe space to focus on their mental and physical wellbeing through new experiences, friendship and a true sense of belonging.
By the end of 2025 Refugees Rock aims to have at least 20 groups running. Having a night of riotous fun with all our mates can play a significant part in making that happen. What's not to 🧡?
Anything you can donate will be welcome. 🙏
