Aim

With no cricket or fund-raising events currently able to take place, we're raising funds to help us complete our new clubhouse development

All about us...

It's been over 20 years in the making, but Breadsall CC is finally getting a new clubhouse.  The club is situated behind the village Memorial Hall on Brookside Road and has been a member of the Derbyshire County Cricket League since 1972. Its facilities have come a long way in the last 10 years in particular: we have raised funds for projects such as new changing rooms (which incorporate an umpires room, scorebox and garage), a fixed practice net, a bowling machine, new sight screens (both ends of the ground), an outfield mower and mobile covers for the square.  A new clubhouse is something the club has yearned for, for a long time, as the old green metal hut had seen better days. This project has been the obvious missing piece of the jigsaw and has hindered the club’s overall development. When we surveyed local residents three years ago, *97% of respondents said that they would use the club more if the facilities were improved, whilst *98% of respondents said that they didn’t think the club had sufficient facilities currently (*survey sample was 64 respondents).

Community links...

A lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into raising funds for the new clubhouse itself and what is being built will be a great facility for not just the cricket club, but the whole village, its residents and the surrounding community and various community groups. Once completed, community groups will be able to rent out space in the new clubhouse for meetings and functions, helping to relieve pressure on the availability of the overstretched village Memorial Hall.

Our facilities have come a long way in 10 years, but our work isn't done yet...

Why we're running this campaign...

We had planned many events this summer to help raise funds for fitting out the new clubhouse, such as our annual golf day, our village open gardens event and other planned events up at the ground, however the COVID 19 pandemic has meant that all of these events have been cancelled.  With no cricket, we also have no income from match subs and bar takings. The likelihood of any cricket this summer is looking slim, perhaps the best hope being a truncated season starting in August for the last two months of summer.

What we're raising funds for...

The items we're looking to purchase or replace include things such as: new tables and chairs, bar furniture, security shutters, alarm system, blinds, fire precautions, along with key pieces of equipment for both the kitchen and bar areas.  If we somehow manage to exceed our target, then we do have a longer 'wish-list' of future developments including: renovating our cricket wicket, a replacement scoreboard, new coaching equipment for our junior and senior players, as well as refurbishing our practice net.

Any donation will help...

Any donation small or large will be greatly appreciated, and we're confident the new clubhouse will create a lasting legacy for the village which will still be there and valuable to all who use it for many years to come. We also hope that the modern facility will attract new playing and non-playing members to the club, especially juniors and their families, as a key objective of the club is to build and expand on the number of junior players and teams we have, providing them with a modern and safe environment to develop as cricketers and individuals.
