Brantham Skatepark aims to create a positive and dedicated space for young people to skate, scoot, bike and hang out with their friends.
Hi, I’m Abi – mum to two amazing boys, aged 10 and 8. I’ve started this campaign on behalf of Brantham Parish Council because I’m passionate about creating a skate park for our village. I want to give our young people – and the whole community – a fun, safe space to enjoy and be proud of. We’re really lucky to have some brilliant local sports clubs, but football, cricket, and rugby aren’t for everyone. I want to create something that reaches more children, especially teenagers, and helps them find fun, healthy ways to get active and feel part of something special.

We’re crowdfunding to help bring a brand-new skate park to Brantham - a space where young people, families, and the wider community can come together to be active, creative, and social in a safe, welcoming environment.
Right now, there’s nowhere locally for children and teenagers to skate, scooter, or BMX without having to travel far. By building a skate park, we’ll be giving them a free, accessible place to exercise, make friends, and develop new skills - all while encouraging a healthier, more connected lifestyle.
We’ve partnered with Brantham Parish Council to make this project a reality, but we need your help to raise the funds needed for design, construction, and essential safety features. Every donation - big or small - brings us one step closer to creating a lasting space for everyone to enjoy.
This project promotes youth engagement, physical activity, and community wellbeing, helping to create a safe, inclusive space that benefits people of all ages.

Our total budget is £200,000 to design and build a safe, high-quality skate park for Brantham.
We’ve already made great progress; £40,000 has been committed by Brantham Parish Council, we’ve applied for £97,000 from Babergh District Council, we've received £20,000 from the National Lottery and Lawford Parish Council have promised to contribute £10,000. Added to fundraising already done with our amazing community that has raised around £4,000 through events like colour runs and quiz nights, we are so close!
To make this project the best that it can be we want this crowdfunder to be the last piece in our funding journey! Our project has been pledged £15,000 by the Movement Fund at Sport England which means that if we raise £15,000 through at least 25 unique supporters then we will secure an extra £15,000 from Sport England so every pledge really does count!
Here’s how the total will be spent:
Every donation brings us closer to creating a fun, inclusive space where young people and families can come together for years to come.

The Brantham Skate Park will be much more than a place to skate - it will be an inclusive community hub for all ages and abilities.
It will give children and teenagers a safe, welcoming space to be active, social, and creative.. The park will also foster connections between age groups, where older skaters can mentor younger ones, building confidence, respect, and a sense of community.
Abi, the project lead says "I’ve seen this magic happen myself. A couple of years ago, my 7-year-old son wanted to learn how to drop into a bowl. He nervously hovered at the edge until a friendly teenager came over, introduced himself, and took him under his wing. Within 20 minutes, my son was dropping in like a pro - and my heart nearly burst! That young skater walked away smiling, proud of helping someone younger, and my son left full of confidence. Moments like this show how a skate park can boost self-esteem, encourage kindness, and create lifelong memories."
Our vision is that families and local groups will be able to use the space for gatherings and activities, helping to reduce anti-social behaviour and strengthen community bonds. The space will also host community events, including skate jams, lessons, and girl-only sessions, to make skating inclusive, fun, and accessible to everyone.
Research shows that skateboarding can improve balance, coordination, sensory processing, and social skills, creating a beneficial environment for those with additional needs.
The heart of this project is about connection, wellbeing, and community pride - a place Brantham can enjoy for years to come.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
Our project has been pledged £15,000 by the Movement Fund at Sport England which means that if we raise £15,000 through at least 25 unique supporters then we will secure an extra £15,000 from Sport England so every pledge really does count!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
