Delivering lunch each Saturday to, and connecting with, those in our community who are vulnerable, elderly or isolated due to Covid19.

 New stretch target

The extra money raised would be used to allow the continuation of the Saturday Lunch Club throughout the coronavirus crisis,  but also to continue beyond this, perhaps in a local venue, to bring together members of the community who may continue to feel or be isolated or vulnerable.

This ambition will create an ongoing legacy for the town which can grow and adapt to meet the needs of the community.

The Saturday Lunch Club has been set up by the Blairgowrie & Rattray Coronavirus Co-ordination Group (BRCCG), which was formed to support those in the Blairgowrie & Rattray area who are struggling because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The aim of the Saturday Lunch Club is to provide a free delivery of lunch, currently soup and cake. A newsletter provides information on the meal together with details of other services provided by the Coronavirus group. It will be run entirely by volunteers from the community.

Most of the groups in the town which would normally meet regularly for lunch, tea/coffee, dances and social activities are unable to open at the moment. Some households have suddenly lost their incomes and are now really starting to feel the effect of this. The group wants to go some way to addressing these issues by providing a regular treat – as well as a little pleasure and enjoyment - to as many people in the community who are struggling as they possibly can during these challenging times.

But the aims of the Club go further than delivering soup and cake. Many people have become isolated and lonely in recent times – such as the elderly, those who live alone, and carers. The Lunch Club volunteers can provide them with some of their time, to provide some human contact, and have a friendly chat – and that is invaluable.

This Saturday Lunch Club service is already up and running - and uptake has trebled since it started in May. And that is where this Crowdfunder can really help. To continue to provide and grow this service during lockdown, we need you to keep donating. And there are longer-term ambitions too. The group hope to support the community by continuing the service after lockdown, possibly from a local venue. Wouldn’t that be a fantastic and positive legacy from these troubling times?

So how will your donations help?

DONATE £10 - The Saturday Lunch Club to deliver to FOUR PEOPLE.
DONATE £20 - EIGHT PEOPLE will benefit from the delivery of Saturday lunch.

- and so on. We hope you can see how much difference a donation can make.

The coronavirus pandemic is unprecedented. You just never know when either you, your family or your friends might need a little support to help them through. And you can help the Saturday Lunch Club to provide that support. Thank you.
