Aim

Support Strabane CC! To make cricket inclusive and accessible for all ages. Promoting equality, diversity and community participation.

Who are we?

Strabane Cricket Club is a community-based, volunteer-run sports club providing cricket opportunities for people of all ages and abilities in the Strabane area. We pride ourselves on being welcoming, inclusive and family-friendly, offering senior, junior and women’s cricket in a supportive environment. The club plays an important role in bringing people together through sport, promoting physical activity, confidence and community spirit. Our ambition is to continue growing cricket locally — especially for women and girls — so that everyone in Strabane has the opportunity to get involved, belong, and enjoy the game.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to make cricket accessible for everyone. Funds will help us buy inclusive equipment, improve facilities, support women and girls’ cricket, and create opportunities for disabled and underrepresented players to take part safely and confidently.

Our project is eligible for extra funding as it supports a community within a recognised area of high deprivation. NINIS data highlights Strabane as one of the most deprived areas in Northern Ireland, with challenges around income, health, education and access to opportunities. By providing inclusive, low-cost cricket and community activities, this project directly addresses inequality, supports underrepresented groups, and delivers positive social and wellbeing outcomes in line with funding criteria.

Beyond cricket, our facilities support social activities, youth engagement, wellbeing, and community events, helping to reduce isolation, build confidence and strengthen local connections.
