Aim

Our willow that holds padlocks with the names of our lost loved ones on has been vandalised by teenagers and now needs a frame to support it

  • 1759176067_img-20250823-wa0010.jpgBound by Loss is a community project created by people who had experienced the loss of their children. They planted and weaved the willow with love and tears. Working alongside ildiko the artist they chose and was supported by Bound Together CIC and Reimagine Redditch. Since its creation many more padlocks have been added and it has become a local beauty spot , where people go to reflect on life and remember their loved ones. Children play and litter pick and the community meets to envision the future of the area. Unfortunately , over a few nights in a week this peaceful , welcoming place was vandalised. We have shocking footage of a youth running along the bench and diving into the structure destroying the willow he landed on. Within the next few nights other youth came along and ripped more of it apart and hung off it destroying its strength. It is collapsing before our eyes. Having fun as they vandalised our loved ones memorial. On the final night they laughed at a community member about what they had done and didnt care for its meaning. Stating they thought the council had put it there so it didnt matter. Although we have the police involved this will most likely not lead to them paying for the damage. We can not fix the willow with just willow alone , now that they have destroyed its strength. It quickly needs a framework put into it. So it can feel the support and take off the strain to regrow and gain strength and be supported forever. Much like as a community we try to do for each other. Only once this framework is in can we add willow to it and start to rebuild its original look like in the photo. We hope that our community will help us fix this broken memorial. We have a man waiting to start the job who has many years experience and will create something of quality to prevent anyone from doing the same damage again. If you can donate then please do so. If you cant donate then please share our story and ask others to do the same. If you did this and arent ready to make contact and apologise but feel an ounce of remorse. Please get fundraising and put your mistake right again. 1759176042_img-20250823-wa0009.jpg
