Every year in the UK, millions of tennis, padel and squash balls are thrown away. Most end up in landfill, where the rubber and synthetic felt can take hundreds of years to break down.
At the same time, the UK is experiencing a padel boom. New courts are being built across the country. But behind this growth lies a hidden issue: waste.
BounceBack Collective was created to change that.
We are building the UK’s first circular shock pad system made using reclaimed racket sport balls. Instead of sending used balls to landfill, we collect them from clubs and players, process them, and transform them into high-performance underlay systems used beneath sports courts.
We’re not just recycling. We’re rebuilding the game from the ground up.
Our mission is simple:
- Turn waste into infrastructure.
- Turn clubs into sustainability leaders.
- Turn players into part of the solution.
Through our collection bins and QR rewards system, players can donate their used balls and earn points while helping create the next generation of courts. Those same courts can one day be taken back, recycled again, and re-manufactured.
It’s a closed loop built around sport.
This crowdfunder will help us:
- Install branded collection bins in clubs
- Produce certified prototype shock pads
- Partner with manufacturing specialists
- Scale local production
- Purchase our first shredder (Suggest a shredder name in the donation...Shreddy Mc Shred Face perhaps!)
- Build a truly circular sports material system

BounceBack Collective started with a simple question: “What if the balls we play with could come back to life?”
The long-term demand for recycled shock pad flooring is supported not only by new court construction but also by predictable maintenance cycles. As the UK padel market matures, this creates a recurring sustainable replacement demand independent of new builds.
Based on current growth trajectories, the national court base is expected to exceed 3,500 courts within ten years, generating an estimated 7,000–8,000 rolls of annual shock pad flooring replacement demand alone. This provides a stable, repeat revenue stream for BounceBack Collective.
By combining recycled materials with a unique 'take-back programme' for used pads, the company will further strengthen its circular economy credentials long term.
