Who are we?
Lancaster City Football Club is a semi professional football team based in the north west of England. The club was founded in 1911 and currently competes in the Northern Premier League (NPL). The team plays their home matches at the Giant Axe stadium and has a strong fan base in the local community. Lancaster City FC has a rich history and has enjoyed success in various competitions throughout the years.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We all know how challenging the realities of finances are in non-league football.
You just have to look at Marske this season to see how precarious the situation can be for a club.
And unfortunately, we’re not immune. Despite increasing sponsorship, gate and diner takings all by 30% in the last two seasons, real financial challenges remain.
Our budget on the team has increased each year but overspends last season and this have stretched the club finances and we need to redress this
With Chris now in charge, we’re going to have to look at the way that works to ensure our outgoings are better controlled on the pitch, and to find even more creative ways to bring money in off it.
It means we’re going to have to pull together as a club - the board, the fans, the volunteers, the new manager and the players
It really is that critical.
But if we all play a small part in contributing, we could all make a big difference.
That’s why we’re putting in place a few things to address this situation.
The directors are continuing to put their hands in their own pockets to help boost the coffers, including bringing forward sponsorship and donation fees - totalling many thousands of pounds - by six months to help with this season’s budget.
Our new manager Chris has agreed to join the club, fully understanding the financial position we are in and that we’re simply not in a position that enables additional expenditure off the pitch.
We have held talks with the players to see how they can contribute to the plan this season. We realise they are the most important asset at the club and are incredibly grateful for their reaction over the past 2 months. As a group, we couldn't have wished for any more effort or commitment.
A shareholders meeting is planned for late January - this is important as the shareholders own the club, the directors are merely custodians trying to manage the club
As you can see, we're doing lots of things to keep financial stability at the club.
But we need MORE support - in fact, we need YOUR support.
That’s why we’re launching our Boost The Budget supporters campaign this week, to give you - the Lancaster City FC faithful - a chance to help us keep delivering this season and into the future.
If we can raise a few hundred quid extra per week, this crowdfunder campaign will make a massive difference to the players the squad and the club.
