Our communities hubs will be called ‘I-Somo Café’: the name ‘ISOMO’ is a Kinyarwanda word translated as ‘lesson’. We have chosen this name because the communities hub which we want to build will be a source of different lessons to young people and others. They will be a unique and chain of communities hubs focusing on bookshops and cafés, offering a curated selection of books across various genres, alongside high-quality coffee, tea, and light refreshments. These hubs will be located in different neighbourhood, cities and villages of Rwanda. Our aim is to create community hubs where literature, conversation, and culinary delights intertwine. We will foster a welcoming atmosphere, encourage discovery, and provide a comfortable space for reading, working, and socialising. Our blend of physical books and a cosy café experience will help us to attract different young people and to support coffee and tea farmers. We will be legally registered as a social enterprise and our staffs will be from disadvantaged families. Our mission is to cultivate a love for reading and community by providing a carefully curated selection of books and a warm, inviting café experience. Our vision is to be the premier destination for books lovers and café enthusiasts, fostering a vibrant intellectual and social hub within our community.
