We are asking for funding for a brand new theatre project called Bookish. 5 mini shows, each inspired by a different book.
Bookish is a brand new theatre project by peformers Laura Mugridge and Tom Adams.
It's five new shows, each inspired by a different book.
The books are:
Tales Of The Unexpected- Roald Dahl
Ginger: My Story- Ginger Rogers
How To Analyse People- Brian Masters
The Remains of the Day: Kazuo Ichiguro
The Dairy Book of Family Cookery.
Audiences will have the choice of which show or shows they see. The project is designed to be performed in smaller theatre spaces, bookshops and libraries.
We have a UK tour in the autumn of 2016, in conjunction with Harrogate Theatre, Sunderland Stages and the Small Venues Network. We are asking for £5000 to go towards funding our train travel to and from venues, our accommodation whilst away, our print and publicity for the shows, and, of course, money towards the making costs of the five new shows.
The show will be touring to venues, bookshops and libraries where theatre is not normally found, we are touring to small communities for audiences who do not have a lot of access to this sort of event. Choosing the show they see is also something new. Funding this project means supporting theatre in new and unexpected places, reaching out to tiny spaces and new audiences. It's a chance to support a new kind of literary event. One with a quiz about cheese! (if you pick that show...)
This project successfully funded on 9th August 2016
