Some of the Bonnyrigg Rose under 10s & 12s girls have banded together to complete a very ambitious running challenge in December to help raise funds for the levelling of the pitch at New Dundas Park, Bonnyrigg.
Back in 2022 Bonnyrigg Rose achieved the unthinkable – promotion to the SPFL & we desperately want to see them able to stay playing at that level. It’s more than just a football team; it’s the beating heart of the local community, in an area of Scotland which has, until now, never had a team in the SPFL.
The club has done so much for thousands of kids over the years and the girls consider the rose community their extended family. As well as investing massively in grassroots football they drive wider community initiatives including the pantry/foodbank, mental health support and work supporting inclusion and positive destinations.
This fundraiser was entirely driven by this incredible bunch of girls, mostly ages 9 & 10, wanting to give something back & show their support.
Between 15 of them, a few parents & one of their coaches, Lewis Bradley, they aim to run a whopping 900km during the month of December!!
For most of them this is their first experience of running, so the challenge is real! Many of them aim to run 50km, which is huge for beginners, particularly at a time of year where there is a lot going on, and the weather can be temperamental.
It's also a tricky time of year to ask for sponsorship, but please, if your able, show your support for these talented, determined & big-hearted group of young women. Any donation, no matter how small, will be hugely welcomed and will certainly help keep the girls motivated over the next four weeks!
