Luceat aim to raise £5,000 to bring to life our first professional release of Renaissance Bolognese choral music with CRD Records
Our first professional CD
We are thrilled to announce our first fully professional CD, to be released with CRD Records (Classical Redefined). Following the success of our previous in-house recordings, the time is right for LUCEAT to take the next step and record with a commercial label.
Our earlier releases received critical acclaim and were featured on BBC Radio 3:
“I commend the variety of choice and the secure beauty of the choral singing.”
— MusicWeb International
“Fine singing from a choir that will go from strength to strength.”
— Cathedral Music
At the heart of LUCEAT’s work is the close relationship between music and liturgy. Our performances — including recent recreations of sixteenth-century coronations — are designed to be immersive, vivid, and historically informed. This new recording continues that vision.
What are we recording?
A sequence of music from Renaissance Bologna, centred on the great Basilica of San Petronio — one of the most important musical institutions of early modern Europe.
The basilica was a crucible of musical innovation, closely associated with leading composers of the period and with the early development of polychoral music, a style that would later shape the grand traditions of Baroque sacred music and orchestral writing.
Much of this repertoire has never been recorded.
This is not simply another choral disc.
It is a chance to bring extraordinary music back to life — music that has lain unheard in manuscripts for centuries — and to share it with modern listeners for the first time.
Where your support goes
A professional recording of this scale costs around £15,000.
We have already secured £5,000 and now need to raise the remaining £10,000. Thanks to the generosity of one donor, all donations will be matched. Effectively, our target is now £5,000
Your support will help fund:
Every donation goes directly towards making this recording possible.
Why LUCEAT?
Founded in 2017 by James Fellows, LUCEAT has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s most exciting young vocal ensembles in early music.
The choir brings together outstanding singers from leading professional and collegiate environments, including performers associated with Genesis Sixteen and Ex Cathedra.
Known for ambitious, carefully researched performances and recordings, LUCEAT combines musical excellence with imagination and historical curiosity.
This CD is the natural next step:
our first professional recording with a major label, and a project that captures exactly what LUCEAT is about.
Thank you so much for your support.
