Bodmin Public Rooms Trust is a registered charity formed to save the Public Rooms for the community of Bodmin and the surrounding area.

In April 2013 Bodmin Town council closed The Public Rooms and despite public objections and our negotiations with them they have now put the building up for sale on the open market for £133,500

Mission Statement
The Public Rooms were built by the people of Bodmin for the people of Bodmin - 125 years later and our building is at risk.
Using public subsidy grants, and with the generous support of local individuals, we will create a £2 million multi-functional venue of regional importance. At the same time it will serve the local community.
As a sympathetically refurbished space, the iconic Public Rooms will be a state-of-the-art centre for entertainment, learning and sharing with a 300 retractable seat auditorium, accessible cafe and bar and smaller spaces for community groups.
The Public Rooms can move into the 21st Century as a project of vision, which is inclusive, accessible and sustainable. It will play a major role in improving the wellbeing of the people of Bodmin, support local business and encourage growth and future prosperity of the town. This historic building, which sits at the heart of Bodmin, will once again become its beating heart.

A brief history of the Building
This iconic building designed by architect Octavius Ralling sits in the heart of Bodmin. It is a Grade II listed building built by local trade’s people in 1891 for the people of Bodmin.
The Public Rooms comprise a large main hall capable of seating 300 people, a small hall upstairs, The Drill Hall downstairs, cloakroom, dressing room and other ancillary rooms and were at the centre of community and social life for over a century. Sometime after World War II The Public Rooms were sold to Bodmin Borough Council on the express understanding that the building should be preserved for the benefit of the people of Bodmin.
Since 1974 the building has become an asset of Bodmin Town Council who can no longer afford to maintain it and it has been closed since 2013

Tax Relief on Donations and Gifts to Charities
Limited companies pay less corporation tax when making donations or gifts to charity. The tax relief is claimed by deducting the value of the donations from the total business profits before calculating the profit liable to tax.

Should the project not go ahead, any funds raised through CrowdFunder will be divided between the following not for profit causes Rotary Club of Bodmin, Bodmin Lions Club and Bodmin Musical Theatre
