I require help for the opportunity to build a pottery kiln. ‘The Bodilly Kiln Project’. A 10 cubic foot gas-fueled, sprung arch kiln.
It is highly important to me that I am able to ‘build’ a kiln rather than ‘buy’ one. Building from scratch allows me to adjust and improve the kiln over time and house it and later transport it without needing cranes and tractors. The kiln will be able to be dismantled back to bricks for transport or possible replacement/reused.
I must stress that this is a skill learning experience for myself and I cannot really call myself a potter if I 'can’t build a kiln', so it is a matter of knowing and experience as much as allowing me the means to continue my craft in a graceful and proper manner. This will also allow me to potentially teach others and begin my journey into building kilns into the future.
‘My first ever kiln’. ‘Bodilly Kiln Project’. After working in pottery for 20 years and achieving much success I find myself starting over again. I’m now in a strong position to establish a kiln at Ashley Court, in Tiverton. With the family’s ongoing support for me as ‘Artist In Residence’. To continue my work truly and meaningfully and to fulfil the many commissions I already have been offered. I already have a body of work ready to fire. And yes when I establish the kiln I will be able to 'make mugs' again. I hope to bring light into the world via my pottery.
Thankyou to everyone who has already expressed support for my cause.
With Love, Jacob Bodilly
