Who are we?
Our mission at Enfield Sea Cadets is to inspire young people to achieve their potential through challenge and nautical adventure guided by the customs and traditions of today’s Royal Navy. We seek to achieve this Vision by exciting young people by offering them the opportunity to participate in challenging and nautical adventurous activity. Being “guided by” the Royal Navy reflects that we can learn much from its progress, and our young people benefit from even more engagement with its personnel
Why are we crowdfunding?
We need to make our facilities compliant and provide a safe environment for youngsters to enjoy regular boating activity on the River Lea. This will enable them to qualify them for further development and provide regular activity.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We already have a team of qualified Instructors. Our safety and safeguarding guidelines already ensure a safe place for activity. We aim to to run one 2 hour session per week at at least 1 day per month during Spring and Summer. We have our own Operating Standard for Inshore Boating and deliver Nationally recognised qualifications in paddlesports, rowing and powerboating.
Community impact
Our facilities can be shared with neighbouring boroughs, we have 50 units in London and Essex! We offer waterborne activities including Rowing, Powerboating, Canoeing and Sailing. Our cadets are aged between 9 and 17. We are an inclusive organisation, our cadets come from diverse backgrounds, many of them from low income families.
