Bloody Mary's Fringe 2026

Aim

We're raising money for the development and deliverance of our debut Fringe 2026 show, Bloody Mary’s. The true story of Mary McKinnon.

Short Synopsis 

Set in 1823, an Edinburgh riddled with greed and decay, Mary McKinnon rules the night with her brothel Bloody Mary's. What was once a palace of pleasure quickly turns into one of tragedy as blood creeps under the velvet curtain. 

Aims 

With Bloody Mary’s we are aiming to give women from history their voices back. Although Mary McKinnon is a real woman, and what happened to her is true, very little is known about her or anyone that was part of her life. This is not an uncommon occurrence, throughout history we repeatedly see women's voices being forgotten. We want to help change this. 

We are also aiming to look at the topic of sex work and how little support and protection there was, and still is, for people in this line of work. While the scope of these two aims are vast and complex, and we will not be able to highlight everything during a one hour show, we want to shed light, open and continue conversations surrounding both topics. 

Who is Fat Pooch Productions?

We are a queer female led theatre and film production company. We explore stories centred around love, women's voices in history, queerness and gothic folk horror. Life began for Fat Pooch in 2022 in Ayr by Julia while she was studying film. Jade then came along and they decided to join forces, combining the art forms they both love, film and theatre.

Your Contribution 

We are a small company with a shoestring budget and your contribution, great or small, will greatly help with the creation of Bloody Mary’s. You will be helping with all costs that come with putting on a show at the Fringe. This includes (but not limited to) venue fees, registration fees, costumes, props and will contribute to paying all creatives part of the project. This is a really important element to us as we deeply appreciate all the people that have dedicated and continue to dedicate their time, talent and hard work to Bloody Mary's.

A little side note: Each reward level also includes everything stated in the levels before. For example, at £25 you will get a handwritten letter, BTS content and a supported by mention in our program and socials. 

Rewards

• £10, Exclusive BTS content emailed to you every two weeks.  (Please send us an email at [email protected] to receive the newsletter)

• £25, Handwritten letter from Fat Pooch Productions.

• £50, Signed poster by the cast and crew and a Fat Pooch sticker.

• £100, Invitation to a private pre-Fringe event (sneak peak at the show, Q&A session with cast and crew and lots more!) 

• £200, Fat Pooch Production VIP (Signed copy of the script and Bloody Mary’s Bundle) 

(Anything physical can only be sent to UK addresses, if you are overseas please let us know and we have alternative options.)
