On the 14th December 2023 we'd raised £770 with 17 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Patch Plays is a theatre company dedicated to staging new writing about the environment and animal ethics.
In January 2024, our new play 'Blood on Your Hands' will be produced at Southwark Playhouse Borough for three weeks, from 17th January - 3rd February.
We are raising money to pay for cover costs for all of the creatives involved.
Blood on Your Hands is a contemporary new play that examines the forgotten victims of the meat industry – the slaughterhouse workers.
It's Ukrainian ex-veterinarian Kostyantyn's first day at the slaughterhouse, where he meets Dan, a happy-go-lucky Welsh lad who cracks too many jokes for his own good. Despite their grim working conditions, an unexpected friendship begins to form. Meanwhile, Kostyantyn's wife and daughters are home in Ukraine, and Dan's activist ex-girlfriend won't stop pestering him at work...
Amidst bleak conditions, this is a tale of human strength, connection and hope. Will the two men save each other from slaughter?
Unfortunately the cost of producing theatre is astronomically high, and the arts are underfunded, which makes putting on a show difficult!
We want to pay our cast and crew fairly, as well as cover costs of set, costume, theatre rent, marketing, and running costs.
£4000 towards actors fees
£3000 towards creatives fees
£500 towards set, costume, props and other production costs.
Any support at all goes an incredibly long way!
We are offering some exciting rewards for those that back the project!
In 2022, we had an Arts Council England funded limited run of Blood on Your Hands at the Cockpit Theatre, which earned 4- and 5-star reviews, and standing ovations.
Blood on Your Hands has been shortlisted and longlisted for national awards such as BBC Writersroom, the New Diorama Theatre Untapped Award, the Phoebe Frances Brown Award, the London Library Emerging Writers Programme, and the Masterclass Pitch Your Play award.

Audience Feedback for Blood on Your Hands:
★★★★★
A very well-produced and acted look inside a fragile friendship, in trying conditions, and the history that shaped it. The slowly gathering pace perfectly conveys the friendship's inexorable decline into tragedy, fuelled by toxic social, familial and uncaring industrial pressure. A welll-earned standing ovation.
★★★★★
Intelligent and sympathetic writing, powerfully acted and staged A very impressive evening in the theatre. Phillip John Jones as Dan was outstanding in a strong cast of accomplished and versatile performers. Not to be missed!
★★★★
It was well acted and explored the themes of negative mental health and toxic masculinity in a frank, unpretentious way. A triumph!
