Extra money helps us to build our campaign further.
Block the Block is a community campaign run by residents in Hulme against proposals for a 13 storey student accomodation tower on the site of the old Gamecock pub. Residents are opposed to these plans, and would like to see something of real benefit to the community on that site instead.
Yesterday - 31st May - the campaign won a major victory at Manchester City Council's planning committee, when the councillors voted to reject proposals for the site.
But we've not won yet. The proposals will come back to planning on the 30th June for a final vote. We intend to keep campaigning to keep the story in the news and keep residents mobilised, so we can get these plans rejected once and for all.
To do this, we need your help. We're looking to raise some money for campaign funds, to cover things like posters, banners, and taxis so residents who need them can attend the planning meetings easily.
Every penny helps, so please help out!
