If Bath wants independent culture, it needs independent spaces.

Bath Laboratory of Culture (BLOC) is a new independent home for arts, music, film, creativity and community at Burdall's Yard. It will be a place where people come to experience great events, develop ideas, learn new skills, meet collaborators and create new opportunities.

The need for places like this has never been greater. Independent cultural venues continue to disappear across the UK, and Bath has already experienced what that loss feels like. When Moles closed, the city lost far more than a well-known music venue. It lost a place where careers began, communities formed and memories were made. Those spaces are difficult to replace, which is why it's so important that Bath continues to invest in new ones.

Every week at BLOC will look different with live music, film screenings, exhibitions, workshops, talks, markets and community events all having a place here, alongside ideas that emerge as people come together. Some will be one-off events, others will become regular fixtures or grow into something entirely new. BLOC gives people the space to experiment, collaborate and create things that wouldn't have happened anywhere else.

As a Community Interest Company, every pound we generate will be reinvested into BLOC. That means improving the building, supporting artists and community groups, keeping events affordable and creating opportunities for people of all ages to make, learn, perform and connect.
