Raise funds and spread awareness for Black and Minority Ethnic causes in Leeds and the UK, through recording a Charity EP with local artists

by Alex Robinson in Leeds, England, United Kingdom

We're still collecting donations

On the 10th July 2020 we'd raised £697 with 42 supporters in 34 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Hi, we're Alex & Jack,

Alex is a bass guitarist, and live music consultant working to develop and support local artists and the UK's Black Music Festival.

Jack works on various cultural projects, mainly in Leeds & researches politics at the University of Leeds.

We're planning a day at Eiger Studios in Leeds to raise funds and spread awareness for Black Lives Matter and Black Health Initiative.

As we're musicians, one of the best ways for us to contribute to what’s happening around the world to the Black Minority Ethnic community is to write music and help spread awareness.

No-one should have to feel threatened, harassed, or in fear of their life due to the colour of their skin.

However, sadly racism still exists worldwide, as has been brought to light by recent events in the US after the killing of George Floyd in police custody.

Whether it be the killing of black people by police, black people being removed from their homes in China, or everyday systemic racism it has left us where we are today, under threat from institutions and governments that are supposed to protect us.

Our aim is to spread some light on these issues and raise funds for BME causes, provide an inclusive space for local musicians to record music and release a charity EP.

Thanks in advance
