We’re raising £5,000 to bring BLESS YOU to life - a fever-dream short comedy where Blessing battles the “final boss” of all aunties.
THE FILM
BLESS YOU is a bold, fever-dream short comedy about awkward encounters, aunties, and altercations.
Blessing’s everyday London life is haunted by one deadly question: “When will you marry?” When she runs into the formidable Aunty Shola — First Lady of the church and undisputed “final boss of all aunties” — a simple street chat spirals into the pettiest, most ridiculous showdown of her life.

CHARACTERS
Through Blessing’s overactive imagination, every eyebrow, smile, and side-eye becomes a loaded weapon. What begins as a mundane run-in is staged like an operatic duel, full of whip-pans, crash zooms, and surreal dream cutaways

OUR VISION
We want to take those moments of suffocating awkwardness we all know — and blow them up into something cinematic, universal, and joyfully absurd. BLESS YOU will be vibrant, stylish, and unapologetically bold: a comedy that transforms everyday tension into epic battles.

THE TEAM
Writer/Director – Alicia Quayson
Alicia could easily be a stand-up comedian, but she prefers to channel her razor-sharp humour into film. A London-born Ghanaian, she tells bold, character-led stories from a perspective that’s as playful as it is piercing. With a background in photography, Alicia has exhibited work in London and New York, and her distinctive visual style was showcased on a Tate Collective billboard campaign A World in Common.
Her debut short Motherland (2019) was nominated for Best Director at Underwire, screened at London Short Film Festival 2020, and won Best New Talent at London Future Film Festival. Most recently, Alicia was selected for the BFI London Script Lab 2024, where she developed Bless You. With experience directing music videos, micro shorts, and commercial promos, Alicia brings both creative originality and practical know-how to the project.
Producer – Lisa Leach
Lisa Leach is a London-based producer and founder of Dovecote Pictures, developing bold, character-driven film and TV with international appeal. Her work champions underrepresented voices and blends emotional depth with genre storytelling - often exploring identity, power, and belonging through a socially conscious lens.
A graduate of the NFTS Producing MA, Lisa was awarded the 2025 James Walker Award by Lee & Thompson, recognising her as a standout emerging producer in the UK screen industry. She has produced over ten short films spanning fiction, documentary, and animation, with work recognised by BAFTA, the BBC, and major international showcases. Her NFTS grad film FAWN was longlisted for the Student BAFTAs and selected for the prestigious CAA Moebius Showcase in Los Angeles.
Lisa recently collaborated with Black Dog Films on Packing Away, starring Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and served as Associate Producer on End of Play, a BBC-backed short starring Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù. Alongside her indie producing, Lisa also works as a Development & Acquisitions Executive at Bankside Films, where she helps package and sell features globally -sharpening her commercial instincts and international networks. With eight years in sales and marketing prior to producing, she brings both creative vision and strategic business acumen to her work.
Producer – Ynez Myers
Ynez began her filmmaking journey at the BFI Film Academy in Nottingham, where she learned to produce and direct at just 16. Her short directorial debut Moth premiered on Girls in Film in 2022 and continues to screen across the UK, giving her valuable insight into both the creative and producing sides of storytelling.
Since graduating from UAL’s Film Practice course, Ynez has carved out an impressive career at Agile Films, where she independently runs the Music Video department, producing and EP’ing projects for top artists. Most recently, she produced The Cost of Hugging, which screened at TIFF 2024, cementing her reputation for championing unique, underrepresented stories.
At just 26, Ynez has already built a slate of distinctive projects across shorts and music videos, balancing creative flair with sharp logistical skills. With Bless You, she’s excited to bring her love of comedy and collaborative filmmaking to the screen.
