Who are we?
Blandford Boxing Club was established in 2002, meaning we are now in our 20th year of providing high quality coaching in the sport of boxing to the children and youth of Blandford Forum. The club is an entirely non-profit organisation, run exclusively by volunteers. All funds that the club receives, whether through training fees, grants or donations are used only for the club’s running costs, maintenance, equipment or paying for boxer’s expenses if they travel for competitions. Our club is licenced through England Boxing, as are all coaching staff. We therefore adhere to strict guidelines and codes of conduct as set forward by England boxing.
Through a loss of space where we operated since April 2015 and the impact of COVID, ‘we’ have now found a new permanent home for the club. This was made possible due to Blandford Town council financially supporting the club by means of a Service Level agreement aimed at financing the club’s overheads and rent
Blandford Boxing club now seeks to raise money in order to kit out and equip our new gym space. This will include gym flooring (matting), bag brackets and framing, boxing gloves, skipping ropes and other fitness and training equipment.
The ethos of the club is to provide a high quality and professional boxing club for the people of Blandford Forum and surrounding areas. The focus is to keep children and young people off the streets, giving them positive role models and positive focus. Installing self-esteem, self-discipline and giving participants a sense of belonging is what we ultimately strive for.

Community impact
With these facilities we will be able to support more children and young people in our town. Giving them a safe and supportive environment, which will keep them off the streets, give them drive, focus and an alternative to crime and anti-social behaviour. It is true that not all children who come to boxing have or may be involved in such activities. However, there is evidence to support the fact that in areas where there are boxing facilities many young people involved in crime and ani-social behaviour including gang culture are steered away from these activities or are far less likely to become engaged in such activities.
Why are we crowdfunding?
As a non-profit boxing club we operate on the bases of keeping costs low for our members, in order to attract a diverse section of our community including those who may come from a disadvantaged background. As such, we have not generated high incomes, rather we have relied on grants and community funds. Furthermore, with our limited facilities and due to the impact of COVID we have suffered greatly both financially and in attracting new members.
With our new facilities we will be able to generate a higher income, through attracting new members. In doing so we will be able to open up the sport of boxing to more people and therefore support more children, young people and adults in our community. One of our main aims is to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour by keeping young people off the streets and give them a positive space to channel their aggression and to build their self-esteem.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Any funds raised will be used to equip our new gym with quality high impact flooring; much needed PPE, including boxing gloves; training equipment, such as skipping ropes and speed bags; ring corner pads and rope separators. The club is in vital need of funds to get us up and running as a quality facility for the town of Blandford and its surrounding communities.
