Our aim is to raise £2500 to contribute towards buying 2 sets of 8 oars.
The University of Surrey Boat Club (USBC) and a team of MSc students are teaming up to raise money for two new sets of eight oars (blades) for the Men’s and Women’s Squads who aim to race at Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta this summer.
USBC has had a very successful growth over the past 4 years. Such successes include representation at international level in the form of current athlete, George Stewart, as well as previous alumni such as Harry Glenister and Ali Douglass. In the last year, USBC has also had regular wins and high performances across the board, including 5 BUCS wins including 4 golds, pre-qualification at Henley Royal Regatta, as well as a win at Henley Women’s Regatta.
USBC is striving to become one of the top university rowing programmes in the country, already boasting one of the top beginner programmes. Over the past 2 years, the club successfully raised the money required to purchase a women’s 8+ boat and to refurbish their men’s 8+ boat. To complete this 3-year project, the club is now looking to buy 2 sets of 8 oars.
