Blackthorn rare breeds pigs in the woodland

Aim

To purchase an area of woodland to raise our pigs on and so continue to produce our lovely Gloucester Old Spot pigs for sausages + hog roast

We started breeding pigs 6 years ago with an aim to have a small holding dedicated to rare breed animals Producing quality meat at a sensible price. 

We have always struggled for rented land although managed to build our little ‘farm’ up to 26 dexter cattle 15 jacob sheep and 10 Gloucester Old spot pigs. 

We have welcomed everyone along from friends family our scouting family and other children to experience the wonderful world of animals and farming.

However due to illness the challenge of continuing with building the herd, caring for them, running farmers markets working full time and our other commitments we have had to let our cows and some of the sheep and pigs go. This has been a really sad time for the whole family. 

Now we would desperately like to purchase some woodland and just continue with our pigs producing quality sausages to sell at markets and promote the Gloucester Old Spot and other rare breeds. 

We would love to invite people along and then share some of the produce in return with an annual hog roast as a huge thank you for anyone willing to help.
