Blackfriars Settlement is a busy community organisation in north Southwark. Set up by volunteers back in 1887, our vision has always been to work with local people to make life better.
Our busy and diverse Mental Health & Wellbeing service offers a range of activities to support local people to manage and improve their wellbeing.
Our Positive Ageing service offers a activities for older people six days each week, and organises trips and an annual holiday.
The Adult Education service provides a wise range of courses: from ESOL and basic English and maths to Baby Massage, art, Tai Chi, sewing and Ukulele.
Our weekly free legal clinic provides advice to people who would otherwise find this difficult to access.
All our activities are about:
• Supporting people to achieve their aspirations
• Improving people's physical and mental well-being and independence
• Strengthening learning and development - both formal and informal
• Helping people to get online and be safe and confident
• Being a focal point in the community and bringing people together
