Aim

We need help to keep our club running through 2020 - and the only way to do that is to focus on season 2021 - a big expansion of coaching.

Who We Are?

I'm Paul Maylard-Mason, Chair of Bingham Cricket Club. We are a club with over 100 members based at our home of Butt Field.

Over the last few years, our membership numbers have doubled - and we think this is just the tip of the iceberg - we've set up a new Womens team and have a girls team ready to play hardball cricket for the first time when they are allowed to! Bingham is a rapidly growing town and we have also partnered up with sister club, Barrowby Juniors CC, to expand the provision of cricket we offer.

We have 6 junior sides, a Womens team and a Girls hardball side and 3 Saturday senior teams, as well as a Sunday team that plays in the local Sunday Premier league, and a development team that mixes adults and juniors from school years 8 - 13 that plays in the South Notts Development league.

How We Help The Wider Community

We run numerous sessions in local schools, raise money for charity (we have linked with MySight, The Rosie May Foundation and have helped Oakham School manufacture PPE for Health workers. We also develop people, with over a dozen juniors going on to take Level 1 and 2 qualifications. We run regular Arts and Craft fairs which attract hundreds of people and allow small local businesses to see their goods.

The Effects of Covid 19

Season 2020 has obviously been seriously affected by Covid-19. We have had to suspend almost all cricket activity and many juniors have missed skills development as part of their progression in the game. Senior male and female players have missed out on the chance to work with a newly appointed club coach. Our new girls team have not yet had the chance to play a match together.

How Your Funding Will Help

This Crowdfunder project aims to achieve a number of things to address this: -

1) When the green light is finally given for a return to training, we want the ability to schedule extra coaching sessions for all age groups, abilities and sexes to make up for those missed during the Covid19 lockdown.

2) To utilise professional coaches where needed, either to 'coach the coaches' or to lead sessions where additional capacity is needed.

3) To purchase additional training equipment to allow players the chance to train in small groups or individually in line with safe practice guidelines.

4) If this is not feasible until the winter, to use funds to hire additional indoor space to facilitate further training to make up for the time lost due to Covid-19

5) To run sessions targeted only at new players, who may not have had the chance to engage with cricket so far due to the cessation of sports and practice.

All of the above will be additional opportunities for our players or new players to develop or learn the game after the disruption caused by Covid19. We can't wait to start!
