The aim of this project is to support Woodsy’s Food Pantry — a vital local service helping individuals and families who are struggling.
For many years, Bill and Barbara Wright have brought Christmas magic to The Crossway in Portchester — lighting up their home for everyone to enjoy and share in the true spirit of the season.
Each year, their dazzling display has not only spread joy locally but also drawn visitors from all over, with many people kindly donating in person and online to support their chosen causes.
When Covid hit, Bill and Barbara decided to dedicate their lights to supporting Woodsy’s Food Pantry — a local food bank named in memory of another Portchester hero, “Woodsy,” who gave so much to the community. Since then, their displays have raised over £10,000 to help families in need — a truly incredible achievement that has made a real difference.
This year, Bill and Barbara are once again lighting up The Crossway to raise funds for Woodsy’s Food Pantry and continue supporting the vital work it does for those struggling in our community.
It’s important to mention that Bill receives no external help or funding towards the cost of the electricity — he covers this himself every year. He also spends countless hours setting up, maintaining, and preparing the lights, often calling on family and friends to lend a hand.
Let’s all come together once again — near and far — to show our appreciation and help Bill and Barbara raise even more for Woodsy’s. Every donation, big or small, truly helps local families and keeps the spirit of kindness shining bright.
✨ The lights will officially switch on at 4:30 pm on Friday, 5th November 2025, until 9.30 pm, and will sparkle every evening from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm, right through until 8th January 2026.
Thank you so much for your continued kindness, generosity, and support — together, we can help Bill and Barbara keep the lights glowing and the community spirit alive this Christmas.
