Bike For Good

RCN SC042707, Glasgow

Bike for Good is a cycling charity based in Scotland, focused on the mission to enable people in Scotland to cycle as their mode of transport. Founded in 2010, Bike for Good sell and service refurbished bikes, run maintenance classes, provide cycle training, and deliver community projects; all with a view to change lives for the better through cycling. Bike for Good and welcomes any and all new or existing cyclists to engage with their cycling community hubs. Beneficiaries include bike lovers, curious commuters, those with physical and mental health conditions, young people, refugees and asylum seekers, and those who have never cycled before in their lives.

Since 2009, Bike for Good has been on a mission to create a healthy and inclusive environment where everyone in the community benefits from more people cycling. From our two Community Hubs in Glasgow South and Glasgow West, our dedicated staff team sell refurbished bicycles to save them from landfill and give them a new owner to love. On top of that, we provide a full, enriching community outreach programme across the city, teaching individuals, schools, and community groups how to ride a bike, maintain a bike and the many amazing benefits of cycling.

But without the support of volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to achieve all this. Volunteers help us deliver very popular services like our Fix your own Bike (FYOB), adult cycling lessons, led rides, refurbishing donated bikes and much more! Volunteers come to us from all walks of life and volunteer for a wide range of reasons, from wanting to learn new skills, meet new people, improve their mental health and wellbeing or be a part of the biking community in Glasgow.

Your donation will allow us to support more people to volunteer with us and offer them an individual development plan with training in Cycle Ride Leader, First Aid, Mechanical skills and much more. But we will also be able to increase popular services like our ‘Fix Your Own Bike’ (FYOB) workshops at both our hubs, a space for do-it-yourself repairs and maintenance where you can rent a work-stand and use our tools while being helped by our volunteers.

And with more volunteers we can refurbish much more donated bikes and save tonnes from landfill. We can teach more people cycling and create a truly inclusive and supportive cycling community across Glasgow.

‘Becoming a volunteer at Bike for Good has been one of my best life decisions ever. Getting to indulge my passion for all things bike, getting to meet people, and most important of all - getting to make a difference. These three things make for the most rewarding and fulfilling feeling. Bike for Good is truly good for me, and this has been noticed by my friends. I have therapy once a week, but I consider my time spent at BfG to be free therapy and just as important and beneficial to my well-being.’ Sarah, BfG Volunteer

A variety of incentives are listed that we would love to offer you, to redeem in our shops in the South or West of Glasgow. Anything you donate will go towards supporting our Volunteer Support Programme.

Thank you!

BfG Team
