My son, Mikey Jarrell, is running the Paisley 10K in August to buy bicycles for the children of Wordu Village to get to school.
I am working with Goodluck Keister, a youth worker who lives and works in Kono District, Sierra Leone. He runs a small start up project called the Kono Bicycle Project and I am raising funds in the UK to buy bicycles.
We have already placed 10 bicycles in a community centre in Koidu for use by the community, and now we want to support vulnerable children living in surrounding villages by giving them the means to get to school without having to walk long distances.
Now we plan to open a bike library in the village of Wordu, 3 miles outside the town of Koidu where the children go to school. We plan to buy another 12 bicycles over the next school year from Karim's Bike Store in Lunsar so as to support the local bike economy.
Please help us buy bikes for schoolchildren by sponsoring my son Mikey Jarrell on the Paisley 10K!
