Bible Comics to US Prisons this Christmas

Aim

This Christmas, we want to send hundreds of Spanish Word for Word Bible Comics into USA Prisons, but we need your help.

We are so excited to share that we at Word for Word Bible Comics have made connections with two charities in the USA who are able to distribute our graphic novels into prisons across the USA. Our wonderfully generous supporters have already sent thousands of gospels out to prisons through these charity initiatives. In getting to know more about the chaplains these charities support and, in turn, the inmates they serve, we have come to realise that our Spanish translations would be a great blessing.

We would love to gift Gospels and Bible books to inmates across the USA that are word-for-word from the NVI translation. This campaign is to raise the funds to pay for the print cost + handling and shipping of these titles.

The best bit is we can do this in time for CHRISTMAS 2025! 

Over the past few years, in partnership with several charities (OPTIM, the 54/2 Foundation, Junction 42, Prison Book Project and Inside Books Project) and hundreds of Kickstarter Backers, we've actually managed to place over 9,000 Bible comics into prisons (and 20,000 Gospel Colouring Posters as well)!

What is the money for? 

The money raised will cover the print cost of the books and the handling and shipping to the charity in the US who will allocate the books into prisons on our behalf.

• So it's over 85% off. 

Why now? 

In 2020, we began this journey of creating co-editions of the Word for Word Bible Comic in Spanish: the "Verso a Verso Bíblica-Cómic". At the time, we knew God wanted us to create the books, but even though they have been selling through our regular streams, we have not been able to work out how to improve their reach. 

Now in 2025, we are about to move to a different distributor on December 31st, and instead of sending these books to the new location, we felt that we'd like to send them to the prisons instead. Now that we have made connections with US charities wanted to get these books into the hands of those who need the Gospel, we believe this is the best use of the books!

Why is the goal All-or-Nothing?

We are not looking to just send one or two books. This is a big initiative where we intend to send thousands of books. This will, of course, bless the people in the prisons as the primary aim. 

As a small self-publisher, we are not in a position to gift ~$8000/£6,000 worth of stock ourselves, but we are prepared to forego ~$58,000/£44,000 of profit to get them into the hands of inmates this Christmas.

If we can send all these books into the prisons, it will be a sign that we are doing the right thing, and we've got faith for that!

Stretch Goal

If we exceed our target of £7,000, we will set an additional £2,000 target to ship all the Spanish editions we have in the UK too!

On Crowdfunder, they have a Extra+ scheme, where your project may be eligible/selected to receive an extra boost of funding from their "partners at public and private sector organisations, charities and funding bodies". Please pray that our campaign fails within their criteria and we are blessed with an extra bit of funding from there 🙏

What is the Word for Word Bible Comic/ El Verso a Verso Bíblica-Cómic? 

A word-for-word comic presentation of the Bible, using a bold contemporary style and historical accuracy to bring out the impact and excitement within the Scriptures to a more mature audience (12+ or 15+ age advisory). Please watch the video below
