We aim to create a lovely seating area to encourage more spectators from the local community to use the facilities at Bewdley Cricket Club
Bewdley Cricket Club
Bewdley Cricket Clubs is a small town club with a big focus on its members and the surrounding community. The club was established in 1946 and moved to its present site at Lower Park in the early 60's. At the present time the clubs Seniors Section field 4 teams who train twice a week and play on a Saturday, a Sunday and midweek.

The Junior Section has regular training on Mondays and Fridays for 5 - 15 year old Boys and Girls and run 9 teams throughout the week. Bewdley CC also take part in the the All Stars programme for under 8 year olds initiated by the ECB and are due to join the Dynamics programme in the Summer in 2021. All in all it is a very busy place once the season is full swing.

Our club is solely run by the dedication from all its volunteers who work tirelessly to make it a continued success during the season and for the future moving forward.

We have expanded massively in size as a club in the last three years, this being largely down to the growing popularity of the sport, our new Girls & Ladies Section and our increased Junior attendance.

In addition to this the club has diversified to offer the facilities for many different activities. Reach, an group of adults with learning difficulties, consider Bewdley CC to be their home! Renting the clubhouse out every weekday from 9.00am - 3.00pm to take part in activities both inside and out.
The Lounge is perfect to hold small functions, christenings are very popular!
The ground has lent itself for Marquee type functions as well- particularly for weddings:

With such enthusiasm from parents, players, coaches and the community alike our facilities are now at full capacity and we desperately require more seating for our committed users that come and support us week in week out.
The Present outdoor area
The present outdoor area is well used but is extremely small as can be seen in this photo of our annual VP Tea day in 2019. With the added seating capacity the club will be able to welcome more spectators which will in turn will increase use of other facilities, generating a much needed income.

The Covid Impact
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the finances of the club which lost income relied on from Training, Fixtures, Hiring, Hospitality and private functions throughout the year. In order to remain sustainable in current times we must diversify and need to accommodate other avenues of income.
The Project:
At Bewdley we are blessed with a beautiful riverside ground and one corner has many established trees which, throughout the dry summer months, lends itself perfectly to a shaded respite on the far boundary to the clubhouse.

It is in this location of the ground that the club propose to clear so that a timber framed structure set in steel sleeves on a hard standing base can be constructed.
This being suitable to withstand potential flooding issues that on occasions have plagued the field. After several consultations with contractors the club have agreed that it is achievable and with careful consideration to the surroundings it will indeed be an asset and help encourage the attendance of the local community.
Proposed Site:
The area chosen is in the far corner of the cricket ground:

The Work Involved:
The costs to achieve this vision come from the following.

On completion we believe the seating area will be a much needed and desired addition to the club grounds, making a wonderful position to enjoy an afternoons innings and the evening sun.

The club had big plans for 2020. But COVID-19 has created a nightmare situation for sports and cricket clubs alike. Bewdley Cricket Club is no different. Financially, we rely heavily on member contributions to run the club, with our numerous bills to pay, and with limited amount of income to speak of, projects such as improvements are low priority, we are therefore seeking financial assistance.
As you will all be aware the coronavirus has had a significant impact on all our lives and put a serious dent in all cricketing plans. Our Golf Day, Beer Festival and Annual 6 Aside Competition were all cancelled.

We are determined to survive and to keep offering the community and our members an amazing experience but we need your help.
We realise everyone is experiencing difficult and uncertain times at present but we are determined to survive and become a bigger, better and stronger club. Our goal is to raise at least £5,000 with a stretch target of £7,000 to help with this project
We welcome any donations however small, and the support of anyone who can help us navigate this uncertain period so that by the start of the new 2021 cricket season we will have made a significant start on improving our facilities for future generations to come.
Club Mission Statement
