Aim
Raising funds to produce a proof of concept for feature film ‘Between the Lines’, an upcoming romance following the lives of Ava and Reid.
Synopsis:
Ava Conway, a quietly formidable writer, earns her first studio commission after a breakout short film. But her uncompromising voice is quickly labelled a problem, and she’s told to soften her work or lose the opportunity. Enter Reid Harper, a former teen star whose career is faltering after public scandals. Pushed toward reinvention, Reid agrees to a romantic lead on the condition he helps shape the script.
Forced to co-write a film neither fully believes in, Ava and Reid clash over tone, control, and truth. As deadlines close in and isolation strips away their defences, the collaboration becomes personal. What they create challenges both their careers, and their ideas of intimacy, power, and authorship.
Why Now?
Audiences are craving feel-good romance dramas that capture the warmth and nostalgia of early 2000s romance films, but grounded in contemporary reality. Many main stream on-screen romances often rely on clichés, with women reduced to ideals rather than fully realised characters and intimacy simplified for spectacle over truth.
Between the Lines tells the story of characters in their late twenties and early thirties navigating careers, expectations, and emotional risk. It is a romance built on honesty, patience, and small, meaningful moments that feel real and lived-in.

At Alora’s Productions, we are drawn to stories that explore the intimate, often unspoken spaces between people in the moments where vulnerability, ambition, and connection intersect.
Between The Lines follows Ava and Reid, two creatives brought together to construct a fictional romance, only to find themselves confronting something far more real. What resonates most is the way the film examines authorship, not only of stories, but of identity. It asks what happens when the narratives we carefully control begin to unravel, and whether honesty can exist in an industry built on illusion.
As producers, our goal is to create work that feels intimate, grounded, and emotionally authentic. We are committed to nurturing emerging talent and building collaborative environments where creativity can flourish. This project represents the first step in a larger journey, beginning with a proof-of-concept short and expanding into a feature film that will retain the same emotional honesty while broadening its scope.
