Bettws Football Club, a long-standing and community-driven organisation based in Bettws, Bridgend, South Wales
Founded in 1957, Bettws FC has a proud tradition of promoting grassroots football and fostering community involvement in one of the most deprived areas of Bridgend. Bettws consistently ranks among the most deprived areas in Wales, facing significant challenges related to income, employment, health, and access to services. These issues are reflected in lower-than-average life expectancy, a higher reliance on food banks, and limited access to local amenities.
Despite these challenges, Bettws retains a strong sense of community, driven by local initiatives, volunteering, and support from small businesses. Bettws FC plays a vital role in this resilience, offering opportunities for men, women, and children of all ages to engage in physical activity, develop life and teamwork skills, and take pride in representing their area.
Our current facilities, while functional, are in urgent need of modernisation to better serve both our members and the wider community. The pavilion is outdated, lacks essential accessibility features, and does not adequately support our growing female teams or accommodate visiting clubs. In addition, our pitches suffer from poor drainage and significant wear, which limits playing time and raises safety concerns.
