Aim

To support the fight against Climate Change and make our homes more energy efficient.

How can you have a green home, if you're homeless?

Here at Nomad Opening Doors we provide safe, secure and sustainable housing for people affected by homelessness. With just a small team of 10, we support 90 people a year to move into housing, find meaningful work and take on new educational opportunities.

This housing allows people to get back on their feet by giving them a base to rebuild their lives. We ensure these houses are a home for everyone who lives there, with fresh bedding, well maintained interiors and support from our dedicated team.

But we want to do more. We want our houses to be part of the fight against climate change. To do this, we need your help. We are looking for funding to make these properties more energy efficient and more green. It doesn't cost much, but it is a financial burden our clients cannot afford.

Can you help us?

Buying motion sensor lights for communal areas cost just £23 per fitting but could save hours of electricity by ensuring lights are not left on unnecessarily.

An electric shower means residents can quickly use hot water without activating their boiler and using costly and non-renewable natural gas. Costing just £120, an electric shower means more efficient energy use and the possibility of using green energy such as wind or solar to power our showers.

We all know how much heat is lost through poor insulation. But did you know you can improve your loft insulation from just £600? We want to better insulate the roofs of our properties to combat wasted energy, reduce heat loss and central heating usage

These simple and cost effective changes can help us to prevent climate change by reducing energy usage across our 18 properties.

By making small changes to our homes, we can make big changes to our world.
