About the trip
Since 2012, LYP has been taking young people from Leatherhead to help serve poor communities in Romania. They partner with Heart of Romania and Dare to Dream, both of whom work within some of the poorest villages in Transylvania; many living without running water, toilets or electricity.
Each year LYP runs a summer camp for over 50 Roma teenagers, providing them with a fun holiday and access to leisure facilities which they normally wouldn’t have. These trips are life changing for both sets of young people.
About Bethan
Bethan is a thoughtful and determined young woman. She's no stranger to charitable causes - for the last two years she has 'Lived Below the Line" - spending no lore than £1 a day for five days to raise money and awareness for those who live in poverty. She will do the same again this month and any monies made will all go to this cause.
She's working hard to raise the money to get herself to Romania - £250 in all - and I think we could give her a bit of a hand, don't you?
Pledge to support Bethan and she will keep all the cash pledged. Anything surplus to expenses will be split between the Romanian community that LYP is supporting and the Leatherhead Youth Project themselves.
The overall 'cost' of crowdfunding this raise will come in at about 8% (depending how you choose to pledge) - which Su Johnston has committed to cover.
