Bernies Grocery Store is a community focused & responsibly sourced grocery store that is in its third year of trading.
We've had a mad, amazing journey since we started business in lockdown in 2020. We've constantly shifted, morphed & tried to run along with our business needs keeping it dynamic, interesting & filling us full of passion for what we're doing.
In the last months there's become a bigger focus on cooking - cooking for friends, for regulars & processing the amazing produce we get in store, with this in mind we want to segway more into where our passion lies & that's cooking & baking.
So here we are, we're announcing the closure of Bernies Grocery Store - but it will re-open as Bernies Canteen & Bakery.
This is where we need your help.....
We want to invest in some refurbishment of the Altrincham shop, & realising its full potential as a great place to come & eat in, as well as improving our kitchen & buying some new equipment so we can better prepare & cook food, we will be keeping the retail offering but slimming it down a little.
We will also be planning to get a on-licence so we can open into the early evening on certain days, mostly Thursday & Friday.
The shop has always been really DIY & we don't want to loose this feel, but we do want to refine it & make it more comfortable to enjoy time in here.
One of the other major benefits also is that the funds will help us put together an amazing final quarter programme of events, tastings & workshops, as well as helping us launch the space as a more collaborative environment, inviting artists & designers to work with us on projects in & around the brand.
All the rewards apart from the donation are to attend events or to get some sweet new merch that will allow us to further play about & have fun with what the brand can & will be in the future.
We've be working with some amazing people who have recently moved from HK & we want to continue these relationships - we are already selling merch overseas with Greenhouse & we've done multiple events with Tart to Miss You - these types of new relationships bring strength & new ideas to what we can achieve as well on top of being just a place to eat.
We've also recently be hiring the space out for birthdays, private corporate events & more - this is a really great use of the space & something we want to continue & develop, hence the pledges for hire.
